How To Share Your Engagement With The Perfect Photo
Last week, we shared a blog on how best to reveal that you and your SO are expecting a baby, but we’ve suddenly realised: what if our reader has gotten engaged first?
Just like every other couple who gets engaged, you will want to put some pictures up on Facebook. You might even create a Facebook photo book out of them. So, how exactly do you take those pictures?
Well, like pregnancy reveals, there are several fun and unique ways you can share that you’re engaged. These range from loving, heartfelt, and warm to downright hilarious. So the pick is really yours!
With this in mind, here are our favorite engagement photos that we’ve come across, as well as a few words on how to create them:
Mario & Peach
We’ve got to start with this one because it took us about five minutes to wipe the tears from our eyes when we saw it. Not because it was moving or anything, but because it was just really funny!
This one simply involves going down to your local fancy dress store and picking out a Mario and Princess Peach costume. Then, all you need to do is put them on, hold hands, and get your friend to snap a picture! You’ll have your very own Mario and Peach engagement shoot, where Mario finally wins the girl!
And by the way, this can work for any Super Mario. For instance, if you’re in a same-sex couple, Mario and Luigi will work just as well. Not so much Mario and Bowser, though!
The Horse And Cart
Another funny one. This involves a bit more work on your part, but it’s worth it if you want an engagement picture to remember. All you need to do is get down to an equestrian centre and ask nicely to borrow a cart for a moment. The woman sits in the cart; the man holds it up from the front. Then, once the woman has a whip firmly in hand, you snap the photo!
Not only will this be a fun, tongue-in-cheek way to announce your engagement, but it’s also a good little hint to the future husband of exactly what he’ll be doing for the rest of his life. That’s a joke, too, by the way!
The First Meeting
Okay, enough of the funny ones, let’s try for something heartfelt. We think one of the best ways to reveal your engagement is by returning to where it all began. The place where you had your first meeting.
Whether it’s a bar, a workplace, a swimming pool, whatever, if you go back there and take a selfie engagement picture, it’s a great way to bring things full circle and show people how far you have come. We also think this is a great way to book-end a photo book for your wedding. Start it off with pictures of your first meeting, and round it up with this engagement pic. Perfect!
Pets Again!
We mentioned last time that getting your pets involved is a great way to reveal you’re expecting, and yet again, we think the pets should be the star of the show.
Another great way to announce your engagement is by purchasing a small chalkboard and then placing it in front of your dog or cat with the line “My Humans Are Getting Married”. This is an easy, fun, but effective way to reveal your engagement. After all, your pets are part of the family, too!
Rings And Fingers
Although we think all these ideas are great, we also believe that, sometimes, the simplest ways are the best. This is especially true for when you’re uploading your pics to a photo book maker – when you come to look back at the moment, you’ll certainly appreciate something simple and heartfelt. We’re, of course, talking about the ring photograph.
One of the most symbolic things about an engagement is the engagement ring. The jewellery that marks the beginning of your new life and shows the truth behind your SO’s love for you. Sure, there’s the whole wedding thing and married life to look forward to, but the ring really takes centre stage!
With this in mind, however, it can be the most effective thing to just take a black-and-white image of the new engagement ring. If not this, then a picture of you and your SO holding hands in the sun, with the exposure set high to capture the glint of the engagement ring's diamond. This is all about celebrating you as a couple, after all. And although the dog and the Mario costumes are great, there isn't a more beautiful way to do it than this!
